About Shoonya

Shoonya is the retail trading platform of Finvasia, and the name carries the pitch, zero brokerage, zero clearing charges and zero account maintenance across equity, derivatives and commodities.

It moved onto its own domain in December 2022, when Finvasia handed shoonya.com to the app and kept finvasia.com as the group site for its global businesses. Customer accounts and portfolios carried across in the move.

By client count it is one of the smaller brokers, but it is unusually strong in commodities, which pulls its busiest hours later into the evening than an equity only platform would see.

If Shoonya isn't working

Check the live status above Broad reports mean the fault is at their end. Reinstalling mid session only delays you getting back to your positions.
Confirm what reached the exchange Open the order book before placing anything again. Duplicate orders during a glitch are the expensive failure mode here.
Remember the commodity session Commodities trade well into the evening. A screen that looks dead at 4 in the afternoon may simply be the equity market having closed.
Use Call and Trade for an urgent exit If a position needs closing and nothing loads, the Call and Trade line can place the order for you. Have your client code ready before dialling.
Keep your own record of losses If an outage stops you exiting, note the times and the intended trade. There is precedent for compensation, and a contemporaneous record is what supports a claim.

The live reading and the report map above are the fastest read. Because Shoonya is smaller than the household name brokers, a real problem can show up as a modest cluster rather than a national spike.

Load at the open and on expiry days is the usual answer, as it is everywhere. Shoonya also carries a heavy commodity following, so its busy window runs later into the evening than an equity only broker, and evening problems get reported here that other platforms never see.

Yes. A technical failure in April 2023 left traders unable to act on positions, and the company subsequently paid out compensation reported at around three crore rupees. It is unusual for a broker to compensate at that scale, and it is worth knowing the precedent exists if a future outage costs you money.

It depends on what you need. Shoonya lists a support number for platform and general queries, a separate Call and Trade number for placing an order by phone, and a third for new account questions, each with its own email address. Lines run from 9:30 in the morning to 6:30 in the evening.
