UPI / NPCI is working right now
There's nothing to notify you about. If it goes down later, come back and we'll let you know when it's fixed.
Our automated check runs from one or more locations and may miss in-app problems; reports come from users across India. We only call something "down" when users confirm it too. Here's how we check.

About UPI / NPCI
The National Payments Corporation of India, NPCI, is the umbrella body that runs India's retail payment systems. It was set up by the RBI and the Indian Banks Association, and it is owned by a group of banks rather than by any one company.
Nearly everything an Indian uses for daily money passes through something NPCI operates:
UPI, which now handles more than 20 billion transactions in a month
RuPay cards and IMPS transfers
FASTag on the NETC network
AePS, the Aadhaar based cash service used at merchant points
Bharat BillPay and the NACH mandates behind EMIs and SIPs
Because it sits underneath every UPI app rather than beside them, load on its rails builds up in the evenings, at month end and on big shopping days across the whole country at once.

If UPI / NPCI isn't working
-
Money debited but payment failed? Do not retry right away. A failed UPI debit is auto reversed to the source account, usually within a few hours to 3 working days. Check your statement first.
-
Try a different UPI app or bank A UPI failure is often at one bank or app, not the whole network. Switch to another UPI app or a different bank account to pay.
-
Check the receiver's bank too Some failures are on the receiving bank side. If one payee keeps failing, try a different payee or method.
-
Is every UPI app failing? If Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm all fail together, it is an NPCI or network level issue, so waiting it out is the only option.
-
Check the live status above If many people across India are reporting UPI / NPCI right now, it is a wider problem and not just you.
Other ways to access UPI / NPCI
-
Switch to a different bank account If one bank is declining UPI, pay from another bank's account or app, since the issue is often one bank, not all of UPI.
-
Try a different UPI app If only one app is failing, another UPI app on the same account may work. If every app fails, it is the UPI network itself.
-
Pay by card, net banking or IMPS For a bank to bank transfer when UPI is down, use a card, net banking or IMPS instead.
-
Keep some cash for network-wide outages When UPI is down across all banks and apps, cash is the only fallback for small payments.
