Google Pay is working right now
There's nothing to notify you about. If it goes down later, come back and we'll let you know when it's fixed.
Our automated check runs from one or more locations and may miss in-app problems; reports come from users across India. We only call something "down" when users confirm it too. Here's how we check.

About Google Pay
Google Pay is Google's UPI app in India and the second most used one after PhonePe, with roughly a third of UPI transaction volume going through it.
Like other UPI apps it is not a bank itself, it works as a third party app provider on top of partner banks, so money moves straight between the sender's and receiver's bank accounts. Users pay merchants by QR, send money to contacts, do recharges and bill payments, and many keep it as their default because it comes tied to their Google account on Android.
Its busiest hours are evenings and weekends, along with month end and festive shopping, when payment volume across the whole UPI network goes up.

If Google Pay isn't working
-
Payment failed but money debited? Do not retry. A failed UPI payment is auto reversed by the bank or NPCI, usually within a few hours and up to 3 to 5 working days. Note the UTR and raise it in Google Pay if needed.
-
'Bank server down' or 'unable to connect to bank'? This is your bank, not Google Pay. Switch to a second linked bank account or wait for the bank to recover. Adding two banks avoids this in future.
-
UPI PIN not working? You may be entering the old PIN or your ATM PIN. After 3 wrong tries UPI is blocked for 24 hours. Reset the UPI PIN with your debit card.
-
App not opening or stuck? Update Google Pay, clear its cache and check your connection. If many users report it above, it is a Google Pay or UPI network issue.
-
Payment declined or limit reached? The daily UPI limit is usually 1 lakh and resets at midnight. For a larger amount, use net banking IMPS or your card instead.
-
Check the live status above If many people across India are reporting Google Pay right now, it is a wider problem. Wait, or switch to another bank or app rather than retrying.
Other ways to access Google Pay
-
Switch to a second linked bank account If one bank's server is down, pay from another bank inside Google Pay. Linking two accounts is the simplest fix for bank side outages.
-
Use another UPI app The same bank account works in PhonePe, Paytm or your bank's own app if Google Pay itself is down.
-
Pay by card or net banking for big amounts For an amount over the UPI limit, or when UPI is down, use your card or net banking IMPS.
-
Pay to the receiver's other UPI, or cash If the receiver's bank is the one down, pay to a different UPI ID of theirs, or use cash for a small amount.
