About Amazon Pay

Amazon Pay is the payments service inside the Amazon.in app, run by Amazon Pay (India) Private Limited, which holds RBI authorisation to issue the Amazon Pay Wallet. People use it for UPI transfers, the Amazon Pay balance, gift cards, bill payments, recharges and checkout on Amazon and on partner apps.

It offers two UPI IDs. yournumber@apl pays from your linked bank account, so it depends on your bank's servers, while yournumber@amazonpay pays from the wallet balance with no UPI PIN. One can fail while the other keeps working, and UPI works only in the app, not on the Amazon website.

If Amazon Pay isn't working

Pay from a different linked bank Pick another bank account at the payment step. A decline from one bank does not by itself mean Amazon Pay is down.
On the Retry Payments page? Pay another way straight away, or wait 20 minutes and finish the payment from Your Orders or the link in Amazon's email.
Payment pending? Do not pay twice Most pending UPI payments settle within 48 hours. After that, raise it with your bank through Raise a Complaint under View transaction.
Wrong UPI PIN too many times Your bank may block UPI for 24 hours. Reset it with Forgot UPI PIN, using the last 6 digits of your debit card and its expiry date.
Open the Amazon.in app UPI and the wallet UPI ID work only in the app, not in a browser. Update the app if it will not open.

Other ways to access Amazon Pay

Pay through another UPI app Your bank account still works in any other UPI app while Amazon Pay is down.
Card or net banking at checkout An Amazon order still goes through on a card or net banking when UPI or the balance fails. A failed attempt can be revised later from Your Orders.
Wallet UPI when your bank is down If your bank's servers are the problem, the @amazonpay wallet UPI ID pays from your Amazon Pay balance without a UPI PIN, once Full KYC is done.

Look at the user reports on this page. When people across India report UPI, wallet and bill payments failing together, the fault is with Amazon Pay or the UPI network. If only your payments fail, try a different linked bank account first.

Three causes are common. Your bank can decline a UPI payment even when Amazon Pay is fine. A timeout at checkout sends you to the Retry Payments page. And UPI works only in the Amazon.in app, so it will not show on the Amazon mobile site or on desktop.

A failed UPI payment is reversed back to your bank account. If the app shows it as pending, wait up to 48 hours, as many complete on their own. After that, open Amazon Pay, go to View transaction, pick the payment and tap Raise a Complaint, which reaches your bank. Refunds on wallet UPI payments land in the Amazon Pay balance in 2 to 4 business days.

Check whether the mobile number or email on your Amazon account changed in the last 12 hours. The RBI requires a 12-hour cool-off on wallet payments after either change, and customer service cannot lift it early. If adding money fails, check that the wallet name has no numbers or special characters, the official ID is added, Full KYC is not pending and the monthly load limit is not used up.

You have hit a UPI limit, and it clears after 24 hours. UPI allows up to Rs 1 lakh a day across all your UPI apps, and Amazon Pay also stops more than 10 scan-and-pay or send-money payments in 24 hours. After you reinstall the Amazon app and add your bank again, only Rs 5,000 can go out in the first 24 hours. An unusual activity message means Amazon Pay has capped outgoing UPI at Rs 5,000 for 24 hours to protect the account.

Pehle 48 ghante rukiye, pending payment aksar khud poora ho jata hai. Uske baad Amazon Pay mein View transaction kholkar Raise a Complaint dabayein, shikayat seedha aapke bank ke paas jaati hai. Wallet UPI ka refund 2 se 4 business days mein Amazon Pay balance mein wapas aata hai.
