About UIDAI / Aadhaar

UIDAI is the authority that issues Aadhaar, the twelve digit identity number now held by well over a hundred crore residents of India. Its portal and the mAadhaar app are where people manage that number.

Typical work here is downloading an e-Aadhaar, updating address or mobile number, checking authentication history, locking biometrics and finding an enrolment centre. Since Aadhaar sits behind bank KYC, SIM cards, scheme benefits and PAN linking, a problem here blocks a lot of other things downstream. Traffic climbs whenever a document update deadline is announced or a scheme starts demanding fresh Aadhaar verification.

Download OTP not coming? It goes to your Aadhaar-linked mobile. Do not request it too many times, since that blocks it for a few hours. Use mAadhaar and a stable connection.
PDF won't open? The password is the first 4 letters of your name in CAPITALS plus your year of birth, for example RAVI1990.
Site not loading? Use the mAadhaar app or myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in, and try off-peak like early morning or late night.
Mobile not linked? You need a linked number for the OTP. Update it at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, since it cannot be done online.
Update or link failing? A busy UIDAI server often causes this. Try again after a few hours.

Use the mAadhaar app When the website is down, the mAadhaar app can download and show your Aadhaar.
Try off-peak hours Early morning or late night is far lighter than the 10 AM to 2 PM peak.
Visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra For a mobile update or a repeated failure, the enrolment centre handles it in person.

Check the live status and report map above. Reports spiking mean a wider issue, especially during peak hours from 10 AM to 2 PM. If reports are low, it is more likely your OTP or connection.

The OTP goes to your Aadhaar-linked mobile, so if that number is old or not linked it will not arrive. Requesting it too many times, more than 3 to 5, also blocks it for a few hours. Use the mAadhaar app and a stable connection.

The e-Aadhaar PDF is password protected. The password is the first 4 letters of your name in CAPITALS plus your year of birth, for example RAVI1990.

Use the official mAadhaar app or the myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in portal, since the old resident portal is deprecated. If it is peak hours, try early morning or late night when the servers are lighter.

OTP wahi number par aata hai jo Aadhaar se linked hai. Zyada baar OTP mangne par thodi der ke liye block ho jata hai, thodi der ruk kar mAadhaar app try karein. Upar live status dekhte rahein.

You cannot get the OTP without a linked number, and a mobile update cannot be done online. Visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra with your Aadhaar to update it, or use the enrolment ID method if you still have the slip.
