The GST Portal at gst.gov.in is run by the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN). Registered businesses across India use it to register, file returns such as GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, and pay tax.

Taxpayers log in at services.gst.gov.in with a username and password, and sign with a DSC through emSigner. The Offline Tools on the Downloads page let a return be prepared without the portal, and problems are logged on the Grievance Redressal Portal for GST.

If GST Portal isn't working

Signing failing? Start emSigner as administrator, check the token driver, then reopen the browser. A token issued from 21 September 2026 needs emSigner version 3.3.
Login or captcha refusing? Open an incognito window or clear the cache, then reload the login page before typing the captcha.
Need the problem on record? Raise a ticket on the self-service portal and keep the number it gives you.

Other ways to access GST Portal

Prepare the return offline Under Downloads, then Offline Tools, GSTR-1 goes into the Returns Offline Tool and GSTR-3B into the GSTR3B Excel utility. Upload the GSTR-1 file once the site answers again. The Returns Offline Tool runs on Windows only.
File through a GSP or your accounting software GST Suvidha Providers (GSPs) connect accounting and billing software to the GST system, so you can also file a return from such software.
A GST practitioner If the trouble is on your own machine, such as a DSC or browser fault, a GST practitioner you have authorised can file from their login. You then confirm it from the SMS or email the system sends you.
E-way bills and e-invoices run on their own systems The e-Way Bill System sits under the Services menu, and e-invoices go through einvoice.gst.gov.in. Both are linked from the GST home page.
Verified contacts The verified GST Portal contacts carry the helpdesk and the grievance route.
