About Passport Seva

Passport Seva is the Ministry of External Affairs portal for Indian passports: new passports, renewals, Tatkaal, police clearance certificates and application tracking. You fill in the form and pay online, then visit a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or a Post Office PSK with your documents.

The crunch is the daily appointment release. Each passport office opens Tatkaal slots at a fixed time, from 11 AM in Patna and Bhopal to 5 PM in Delhi and Lucknow, and slots freed by cancellations come back at the same moment. Passport fees were revised from 1 July 2026.

Check the live reports on this page. Applicants in several cities reporting the portal together means a fault on the Passport Seva side. If you only see no slots at your passport office's opening time, 5 PM in Delhi for example, that is the daily release filling up, not an outage.

Often it is the slot-opening minute. Tatkaal slots for each passport office go live at one fixed time a day, and at busy PSKs the Normal slots and any cancelled ones are released then too. If the portal will not load at other hours and others report it too, it is a technical issue on the portal.
