Our automated check runs from one or more locations and may miss in-app problems; reports come from users across India. We only call something "down" when users confirm it too. Here's how we check.

About FASTag

FASTag is India's electronic toll collection system, working under NHAI on NPCI's NETC network. A prepaid tag stuck to the windscreen is read at the toll plaza and the amount is deducted without the vehicle stopping.

It is mandatory on national highways, so nearly every car and truck on an Indian highway carries one. This page covers the My FASTag side of it, used to buy a tag, recharge it, check balance and status, and sort out a blacklisted or low balance tag.

Recharges cluster before long weekends and holiday travel, when a great many people top up on the same evening before setting out.

If FASTag isn't working

  • For a failed recharge, keep the reference A failed recharge is normally reversed. Note the reference and check your tag balance before recharging again.

  • Recharge through your issuing bank or app FASTag is issued by many banks. If one route fails, recharge through your issuing bank's app or netbanking, or a UPI app that supports FASTag.

  • Raise a wrong-toll dispute For a double or wrong toll deduction, note the transaction and raise a dispute with your issuing bank or on the NHAI helpline 1033.

  • Wait for the balance to reflect A recharge can take a little time to show, especially when systems are busy, so wait and refresh before retrying.

  • Check the live status above If many people across India are reporting FASTag right now, it is a wider problem and not just you.

Other ways to access FASTag

  • Recharge through another route FASTag can be recharged through your issuing bank's app, net banking, or a UPI app that supports it, so try another route if one is down.

  • Use your issuing bank for a tag issue For balance, KYC or blacklist issues with your specific tag, your issuing bank or app is the right contact.

  • NHAI helpline for toll disputes For a wrong toll deduction or a highway issue, the official NHAI FASTag helpline (1033) is the route.

Questions

Check the live status and report map above. If reports are spiking across India, especially before a long weekend, it is a wider FASTag problem and not just you. FASTag is issued by many banks, so an issue can also be with your specific issuer.
The reports above cover the shared NETC system that every issuer bank sits on, so a national spike affects all FASTags at once. Quiet reports usually mean something specific to your tag, most often a low balance, a KYC gap or a tag blacklisted after a dispute.
A failed recharge is normally reversed within a few working days. Keep the reference and check your tag balance before recharging again, so you do not pay twice.
A wrong or double deduction can happen due to a system glitch at the plaza. Note the transaction, and raise a dispute with your issuing bank or on the NHAI helpline 1033 for a reversal.
A recharge can take a little time to reflect, especially when systems are busy. Wait a while and refresh, and keep the recharge reference in case you need it.
Ghabraye nahi. Recharge reflect hone mein thoda samay lag sakta hai. Reference sambhal kar rakhein aur dobara recharge karne se pehle balance check karein. Galat toll kate to 1033 par dispute karein.
Yes. Tap the Download button on the live status card at the top of this page to save the FASTag server down image. The screenshot shows FASTag's current status, the last checked time and how many users across India are reporting problems right now. So when FASTag is actually down you get a real service down screenshot, not a mock-up. Save the service down image to keep it or send it to someone.
We run an on-demand server check from our side and combine it with real user reports across India. Reports are the main signal, because FASTag can respond to our check while it is still failing for many users. So if reports are spiking here, it is a real problem even if the site loads for us.
