About CDSL

Shares in most Indian demat accounts are held at CDSL (Central Depository Services (India) Limited), one of the country's two depositories. Your broker or bank is the depository participant (DP); CDSL keeps the record of what you own.

Investors meet CDSL directly in a few places. When you sell shares, the broker sends you to CDSL's eDIS page to authorise the sale with a TPIN and OTP. Easi and Easiest show holdings online, and Easiest also lets you move shares. CDSL also runs the e-Voting platform for shareholder meetings.

If CDSL isn't working

Generate a new TPIN A forgotten or old TPIN blocks the sale. Create a fresh one on CDSL's eDIS page.
Look for the OTP on both mobile and email The OTP goes to the contact details registered with your broker. Update them if they have changed.
Request a fresh OTP after 15 minutes The OTP on CDSL's page is valid for 15 minutes. Ask for a new one and try again.
Retry the sale in a few minutes If the CDSL authorisation step keeps failing, wait a few minutes and try the sale again.

Set up DDPI with your broker With a DDPI in place, the broker can sell your shares without a TPIN each time.
Use the Myeasi app CDSL's Myeasi app shows your holdings when the Easi or Easiest website will not load.

This page tracks cdslindia.com and shows what investors are reporting. When many people report TPIN or authorisation failures around the same time, the fault is likely at CDSL. When only your broker's app fails, ask your broker first.

Most CDSL complaints are about selling shares. Your broker hands you to CDSL's eDIS page for TPIN and OTP, and if that page is slow or the OTP does not arrive, the sale cannot go through. Check the OTP on both your mobile and email, then retry the sale after a few minutes.

Generate a fresh TPIN on CDSL's eDIS page with your BO ID and PAN. CDSL sends the new TPIN to the email registered with your demat account. The OTP on that page is valid for 15 minutes, so request a new one if it has expired.

Check that your mobile number and email are updated with your broker, since the OTP goes there. If the CDSL page keeps failing, ask your broker whether a DDPI is active on your account; with it, sales do not need a TPIN each time.

Use Forgot Password / Forgot Username on the Easi and Easiest login page, or log in with PAN. An expired password has its own change option on the same page. If the website will not open, check your holdings on the Myeasi app for now.
