About Zerodha

Zerodha is the broker that made flat fee broking normal in India. Founded in 2010 by Nithin and Nikhil Kamath, it charges a small fixed amount per executed order instead of a percentage, and that one change pulled a whole generation of retail investors onto the market.

Its main platform is Kite on web and app, with Console for reports and statements and Coin for direct mutual funds. It stayed the largest broker in the country for years before Groww went past it on active clients, and it remains among the top two and the most profitable of the lot.

Order flow is heaviest in the first fifteen minutes after the 9:15 AM open, around expiry days and on sessions when the market moves sharply.

If Zerodha isn't working

Check your order book before retrying If an order seems stuck, check whether it actually went through before placing it again, so you do not double up.
Switch between the app and Kite web If the Zerodha app is stuck, try the web platform, or the other way round. If one is down the other often works.
Check your connection Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data and reload, since a frozen screen at market open is sometimes your network.
Use call and trade for an urgent order For a time-sensitive trade when the app is down, Zerodha's call-and-trade or support line can place the order for you.
Check the live status above If many people across India are reporting Zerodha right now, it is a wider problem and not just you, which matters when the market is moving.

Use Kite web instead of the app, or vice versa The Zerodha app and web platform are separate routes, so if one is down the other often still works.
Place an urgent order by call and trade For a time-sensitive trade, Zerodha's call-and-trade or support line can place or square off an order over the phone.
Use another broker if you have one If you hold accounts with more than one broker, another platform can be a fallback for an urgent trade.

First check whether the order actually went through in your order book before retrying, so you do not place it twice. If the platform is under load, wait a moment and check the live reports here.

Under heavy load some data can lag or fail to load even when orders work. Refresh, switch between the app and the web platform, and check your connection.
