About Telegram

Telegram is a messaging app built around something WhatsApp does not do well, very large public channels and groups, which can hold lakhs of members and are used for news, study material, job alerts and community broadcasts.

It stores chats in the cloud, so the same conversation opens on any device, and it supports bots, large file transfers and separately encrypted secret chats. In India it is used heavily alongside WhatsApp rather than instead of it, particularly for exam preparation groups and channel-based content that a personal messenger cannot hold.
