If Discord isn't working

Restart the modem, router and device Turn off the modem, the router and your computer or phone, then switch them back on. Discord lists this first for voice connection errors.
Switch DNS to Google or Cloudflare Set your DNS to Google Public DNS or Cloudflare 1.1.1.1. Discord recommends it for images not loading, an update loop, a failed download and voice that will not connect.
Check firewall, antivirus, VPN and proxy Allow Discord in your firewall or antivirus and turn off any proxy. A VPN is fine only if it carries UDP traffic.
Set date and time to automatic A wrong clock can leave the app stuck on its connecting screen. Set date and time to update automatically, then reopen Discord.

Other ways to access Discord

Open Discord in your browser If the desktop or phone app will not load, log in at discord.com in a browser and carry on from there.
Use your phone's mobile data College and office Wi-Fi can block Discord. Connect through your phone's hotspot for now, or switch the phone from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
Move the call to another voice region A server admin can pick a different voice region under Voice Channel Settings, Overview, Region Override. In a private call, the region can be changed too.
Follow Discord's outage updates discordstatus.com and the @discord_support account on X post ongoing outages and known bugs, so you know when to try again.

Change your DNS first. Discord calls DNS the most common cause of images not loading and other connection trouble, and it suggests Google Public DNS or Cloudflare 1.1.1.1. On a phone, Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 app covers mobile data as well as Wi-Fi. If one network works and the other does not, the problem is that network, not Discord.
