Check the user reports on this page. If people across India report the app, net banking and UPI failing together, Kotak has a technical issue at its end. When you alone are stuck, look at your side first: the SIM, the app version or a locked login.
Check the app's security rules before assuming an outage. The New Kotak Bank App needs the bank-registered SIM active in the phone, runs on one device at a time and will not open with Developer Mode on. It also needs Android 8 or iOS 17 and above. On net banking, three wrong OTPs lock the OTP for 12 hours.
Check the SIM first. Registration sends an SMS from your bank-registered number, so that SIM must be switched on, with mobile data on and Wi-Fi off. On a dual-SIM phone, set the registered number as the default for SMS. On an iPhone, tap Send within 5 seconds or you get a Timeout error. Registering on a new phone logs the old one out.
Try the other one. Net banking runs at netbanking.kotak.bank.in, a second route to the same account when the app fails. A locked net banking password can be freed from the login screen, or it clears by itself after 12 hours. When both fail for many users here, the fault is at Kotak's end.
Give a UPI or IMPS transfer 2 working days, counting the day you paid, for the other bank to settle or return it. After that, contact Kotak with the beneficiary bank's statement to raise a dispute. For a net banking or bill payment on a merchant site, allow 3 working days, then check with the merchant before going to Kotak.
Check KYC first. A Kotak811 limited account must finish Full KYC within 12 months of opening, or it is frozen and then closed. An account without Full KYC is also blocked when it crosses its limits, and a name mismatch between Aadhaar and PAN blocks it too. Book Video KYC or an officer visit in the app; a biometric KYC update can take up to 48 working hours to show.
