Answer: No HSBC India issues reported in the last 24 hours, and it responded normally at our last check on 24 Oct 2026, 4:02 AM IST.

Our automated check runs from one or more locations and may miss in-app problems; reports come from users across India. We only call something "down" when users confirm it too. Here's how we check.

About HSBC India

HSBC's history in India goes back to 1853, when the Mercantile Bank of India opened in Mumbai. HSBC bought that bank in 1959. Today it works here as The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, India, known to most people as HSBC India, with its India corporate office in Fort, Mumbai.

Personal customers bank through online banking and the HSBC India Mobile Banking app, which runs on one phone at a time and also carries the Digital Secure Key for log on codes. Premier customers get a phone banking line that runs 24x7. The website now sits at hsbc.bank.in, and the old hsbc.co.in address still takes you there.

If HSBC India isn't working

  • App suspended? Check accessibility settings This alert means another app on the phone has accessibility access. Turn that permission off under Settings, Accessibility, or uninstall the app it names.

  • Forgot the app PIN Tap Reset PIN on the login screen and choose the secondary password and SMS OTP option. A code comes to your registered mobile, and you then set a new 6-digit PIN.

  • Activation code not arriving Request it again from a place with good network. If your mobile number has changed, update it through phone banking or at a branch first.

  • Keep the reference on a failed transfer Money from a failed UPI or IMPS transfer returns to the account without any request. Sending the same amount again before it does is how you end up paying twice.

  • Security code rejected? Use the Digital Secure Key Once the Digital Secure Key is active in the HSBC India app, codes from the old physical Security Device stop working. Generate the log on code from the app instead.

  • Match it against other reports When reports arrive from many cities together, HSBC India has a wider problem, not your phone.

Other ways to access HSBC India

  • SMS card blocking Send BLOCK HSBC and the last four digits of your debit card to 575750 from your registered mobile. It works when the app and the site are both down.

  • HSBC ATM for balance and transfers HSBC ATMs show the balance and your last 5 transactions, move money between HSBC accounts, and take a cheque book request. Any bank's Visa ATM shows the balance too.

  • UPI from another bank For a payment that cannot wait, use a UPI app linked to an account at a different bank.

  • Branch for a service request Phone banking handles a new debit card or PIN, a mobile number change or a fixed deposit once you verify your Phone Banking PIN. A branch takes the same requests in person when online banking will not load.

  • 24x7 lines for fraud and Premier Reporting fraud, blocking a card or stopping a cheque works 24x7 by phone. The numbers are on the HSBC India helpline page.

Questions

Check the reports on this page. If people in different cities report the same failure within a few minutes, HSBC India is facing issues at its end. A single report on its own usually points to your phone or connection.

Check your own phone first. Three app rules can look like an outage:

  • The HSBC India app runs on one device at a time. A second phone shows Device limit reached.
  • It does not run on rooted or jailbroken phones.
  • It stops working while certain other apps hold accessibility permission on the phone.

If the app and online banking both fail on a normal phone while others report it too, the HSBC server has a technical issue on the bank's side.

Go to hsbc.bank.in and tap Log On at the top of the page; typing hsbc.co.in brings you to the same site. First-time users pick Register to set up online banking. Business accounts log on through HSBC's separate business banking site.

By text message. Send BLOCK, then HSBC, then the last four digits of the card number to 575750 from your registered mobile. It does not depend on the app, the website or a call connecting.

Check the time. The personal banking and credit card lines answer 6.30 AM to 8.30 PM, every day. Premier customers have a 24x7 line, and anyone can report fraud, block a card or stop a cheque at any hour.

Keep the reference number and do not pay again. For a UPI or IMPS payment that failed, RBI's turnaround rule sets the next working day as HSBC's deadline to put the money back. Still missing after that? Call phone banking or send a secure message from online banking.

Remove the old phone first. On a phone that still has the app, go to Profile, Security, Manage devices and tap Remove under the handset you no longer use. If you do not have that phone any more, HSBC Phone Banking can remove it for you.

Do it from your profile in the app:

  1. Log in and tap the Profile icon at the top right.
  2. Tap the arrow next to your name and last login.
  3. Tap KYC declaration and follow the steps.

An account blocked because KYC is due works again once the update goes through. Resident customers can also update KYC in Personal Internet Banking, or submit it at a branch.

Tap Download on the status card at the top. The server down screenshot shows HSBC India's status, when we last checked, and how many users are reporting problems.
