Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu is where City Union Bank started, in 1904, which makes CUB one of the oldest private sector banks in the country. Traders, small businesses and MSME customers have been its character for the whole of that time, and most of its branches are still in Tamil Nadu and the states around it.

Look at the CUB reports coming in here. A burst of them in a short time means City Union Bank has downtime or a technical issue. A quiet page points at your network, your app version or your login.

Check which net banking you are on first. CUB offers both its new net banking and the existing one at the login screen, and its own note says beneficiaries and limits from the old application move across automatically when you register on the new one. If the CUB All in One app fails, sign in on the CUB website instead, and switch back once it loads.

Try the same account in another UPI app. The UPI ID is attached to your bank account rather than to the CUB app, so a payment failing everywhere points at the bank's UPI leg, and one that works elsewhere points at the app. A FASTag recharge that will not go through is worth retrying once the payment side is back.

Do not pay again. RBI requires a failed UPI or IMPS debit to be returned to you by T+1, the next working day. Keep the reference number, and if the credit has still not appeared, open a case on CUB's complaint portal, which issues a service request number of its own.

Check which net banking you are on first, since the new platform and the existing one are both live. For an OTP, give it a minute before asking again, because several requests in a row hold the next one up. After that, move the phone onto a different connection and update the CUB app.

Give a missed call from your registered mobile number to the balance enquiry line and it answers with the figure. WhatsApp banking does the same, and both are on the CUB helpline page with the rest of the bank's routes.
