About Capital Small Finance Bank

India's first small finance bank, Capital took up that licence in April 2016 by converting from Capital Local Area Bank, which had been running in Punjab since 2000. Jalandhar is home and Punjab still holds most of the branches, with the rest spread across Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.

The book is deliberately retail and mostly secured, agriculture, MSME and mortgages, serving somewhere around six lakh customers. Net banking, the Capital Mobile+ app and UPI carry the daily transactions, and things get busiest at month end and when Kisan Credit Card and crop-cycle payments fall due.
