About Unity Small Finance Bank

Unity is the newest of the small finance banks and the only one created partly to absorb a failed lender. Set up by a consortium of Centrum Financial Services and BharatPe, it began operations in late 2021, and in 2022 the Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank was amalgamated into it under a government scheme.

That legacy still shapes a lot of what the bank does. Former PMC depositors are being repaid on a staged timetable set out in the scheme, and Unity publishes the details on its own site. Alongside that it runs an ordinary retail and small business book from Navi Mumbai, with a digital-first app, net banking and competitive deposit rates.
