About Ujjivan Small Finance Bank

Ujjivan Financial Services began in 2005 as a Bengaluru microfinance company, and after the RBI granted a final licence in November 2016 the banking arm opened for business on 1 February 2017. The mass-market focus carried over intact.

Around 777 branches and a customer base drawn largely from segments the bigger banks tend to skip, micro-borrowers, group loan customers, small traders. It is also among the more aggressive on savings rates, which pulls in deposit customers who never visit a branch.

Net banking, the Ujjivan mobile app and UPI cover everyday transactions, and there is a voice-led app aimed at customers who find a standard banking interface hard going. Load peaks at month end and on the days group loan repayments fall due.
