About SWAYAM

SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is the Ministry of Education's free online course platform, with courses from Class 9 to postgraduate level. Anyone can join; a certificate needs a proctored exam at a test centre, for a fee.

Courses come from national coordinators such as NPTEL, UGC, AICTE, IGNOU, CEC, NCERT, NIOS, IIMB and NITTTR, and each one handles its own exams, results and certificates. Credit courses can be transferred to your college marks as your university allows.

The SWAYAM status card checks swayam.gov.in and adds reports from learners across India. A sudden rise in learner reports points to a portal-wide fault, not your device.

Click Sign-In / Register on swayam.gov.in and register as a student with your name and email ID, or sign up with Google or Microsoft. A confirmation email comes from [email protected]. Then search a course and enrol; courses are free.

Enrol in the course first, then fill the exam form and pay the fee online by net banking, card, UPI or wallet. Choose three exam cities in order of preference. Fees and dates are on the course page and the national coordinator's notices.

No. The city cannot be changed once the admit card is issued, and you must take the exam on the date and session shown on it. No retest is held for a missed exam.

A clear A4 printout of the admit card and one original government photo ID such as Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID, driving licence or passport. Mobile phones, watches, bags and food are not allowed inside; rough sheets are given at the centre.

Results come once the proctored exam is evaluated, and the national coordinator that ran the course issues the certificate with credits and grades. There is no rechecking or re-evaluation.
