Q: My MCC registration payment failed or was taken twice, what happens to the money?

Do not pay again until you check. HLL Lifecare Ltd, MCC's financial custodian, collects the fee, and the bulletin says an excess payment can be taken up with the custodian after the registration window closes, to be refunded within 30 days of that, less 50 percent of the registration fee or Rs 500, whichever is smaller. Refund questions go to financemcc@lifecarehll.com.

About MCC

All India Quota seats in MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing are allotted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which works under the Directorate General of Health Services in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Its portal is mcc.nic.in, hosted by NIC.

Alongside the 15 percent All India Quota it runs counselling for the central universities (Delhi University, AMU, BHU and Jamia Millia Islamia), AFMC Pune, ESIC seats, AIIMS, JIPMER and the deemed universities. Seats in a state's own quota are counselled by that state, not here.

Everything runs to a published schedule: registration, choice filling and locking, seat allotment, then reporting at the college, round after round.

Check the schedule before anything else Registration, choice filling and reporting each open for fixed dates on the UG counselling page. A window that has closed looks exactly like a broken page.
Download the result PDF, do not preview it Allotment, vacancy and seat matrix files are large. Saving the file usually works when opening it in the browser hangs.
Try candidate login Your own allotment, choices and payment status sit behind login, which often responds while the public pages are struggling.
Save choices as you fill them Lock nothing at the last minute. Entries saved through the window survive a timeout in the final hour far better than one long session.
Switch browser or device If the payment page or a result PDF will not open, allow pop-ups for the site, or try another browser or device.

Other ways to access MCC

Take the result from the PDF list MCC publishes every round's allotment, vacancy and newly added seat list as a file on the UG counselling page, so you can read the result without logging in.
Ring the call centre for anything time-bound If a window closes today and the site will not let you finish, the MCC call centre on the toll-free number is the fastest human route, 9 AM to 6 PM.
Use the archive for older rounds Past years and earlier rounds sit under the Archive menu, which is useful when the current pages are under load.
State quota goes to your state For the 85 percent state quota, your state authority's own portal runs registration, choices and results, and the MCC helpline contacts cover only the All India Quota side.

Check the status card and what candidates report here. Reports from many states within a few minutes mean mcc.nic.in itself has a technical issue. A lone failure is usually the login session or the browser.

Check the date first. Registration, choice filling and reporting open only on the dates in the published schedule on the UG counselling page, so a closed window can look like a broken site.

Result and vacancy lists come as PDF files; download them instead of opening them in the browser. When the portal itself will not load for many candidates together, it is downtime at MCC's end.

Give it a few minutes and download rather than preview. MCC puts result and vacancy files as PDFs under Current Events on the counselling page, so saving the file is lighter than opening it in the browser. Your own allotment also sits inside candidate login, which is often reachable when the public pages are crawling.

Start with the window, not the password. Choice filling and locking open only for the hours in the published schedule, and the portal stops accepting entries the moment the window shuts. Within the window, save your choices as you go instead of at the end, and keep the registration number and password from registration to hand.

Your own state's authority counsels the other 85 percent on its own portal, to its own dates.

Watch for the next round rather than chasing the last one. Rounds run to the published schedule and nobody reopens one for a single candidate, so the practical answer is the next round or the stray vacancy round, both announced on the counselling page. Remember that a seat allotted in round 2 or later and not joined costs you the security deposit.
