If UPSC isn't working

Wait out the first hour A result hour brings the whole applicant pool in at once. Reload once after a few minutes. Avoid refreshing again and again; give the page time to load.
Come back late evening Nothing the commission posts expires the same day. Late evening and early morning are far quieter than the announced hour.
Open the result from the commission's own site Go to the UPSC website and find the notice yourself. The PDF you want is always listed under its examination notices.

Check the live reports on this page first. UPSC traffic comes in spikes, when a notification opens or a result is posted, so a crowd of reports in one of those hours means the site has a technical issue or is overloaded, not your connection.

Two kinds of day matter more than the rest: the day a notification opens and the day a result is posted. If the site is slow but opens, keep the tab open and avoid repeated refreshing.

No, and that is why one works while the other does not. Applications run on upsconline.nic.in, a separate host from upsc.gov.in, so a notification can be readable while registration will not load. The helpdesk covers the portal during an application window.

Give it ten minutes, then reload once. Result PDFs stay on the commission's site, so nothing is lost by looking again in the evening. Open them from the site itself rather than a link someone forwarded.

Wait a full minute for the OTP before asking for another. Your Universal Registration Number is what the commission asks for in any correspondence, so keep it with the application number.

Download it early in the window rather than on the last day, when traffic is heaviest. Save the PDF to your phone instead of only reading it in the browser.
