Our automated check runs from one or more locations and may miss in-app problems; reports come from users across India. We only call something "down" when users confirm it too. Here's how we check.

About UPSC

UPSC conducts the Civil Services Examination, the one that fills the IAS, IPS and other central services, and along with it the NDA, CDS, CAPF and Engineering Services exams.

The numbers here are brutal in a way no other exam matches, around ten lakh people apply for the civil services each year for roughly a thousand posts, across a cycle of prelims, mains and interview that runs almost twelve months. Its site carries notifications, forms, admit cards, cut-offs and the final merit list. The final result, usually in April, and the prelims result are when it is most heavily hit.

If UPSC isn't working

  • Keep calm, it is the load not you On a result or notification day the UPSC site is overloaded by lakhs of users at once. Retry steadily without spamming refresh, which only adds to the load.

  • Try slightly off-peak Access improves outside the immediate rush. Trying a bit later, or early morning and late night, is often smoother.

  • Use only the official link Use the official UPSC website or the direct link it provides. Avoid unofficial mirror sites that ask for your details.

  • Use a stable connection and download early For admit cards and results, use a reliable connection and download well before the last day when traffic peaks.

  • Check the live status above If many people across India are reporting UPSC right now, it is a wider load issue and not just you.

Other ways to access UPSC

  • Try the official app or portal, whichever you are not on If the UPSC website is not loading, an official app or an alternate official portal, where available, can work.

  • Access off-peak Results and admit cards stay available, so trying off-peak or the next morning usually gets you through once the rush eases.

  • Use the official direct link only Where the agency shares a direct result or download link, use that. Never enter your details on unofficial mirror sites.

  • Helpline or regional office for a stuck case For a genuine problem like a mismatch or failed payment, the official UPSC helpline or regional office is the route.

Questions

Check the live status and report map above. If reports are spiking across India, especially on a result or notification day, it is a wider UPSC problem and not just you.
On a result or notification day lakhs of candidates open the site in the same short window, so it slows down or times out. It is the load, not your device or your account, and access eases as the rush settles.
Keep trying calmly without hammering refresh, try slightly off-peak, and use the official direct link if one is given. Do not use unofficial mirror sites that ask for your details.
On peak days this is usually the load, or an OTP or network issue. Wait for the OTP for a minute, check your connection, and try again after a short while.
Under peak load the download can fail midway. Try again off-peak, use a stable connection, and download it early rather than on the last day when traffic is highest.
Ghabraye nahi, yeh load ki wajah se hota hai, aapki galti nahi. Shaant reh kar thodi der baad ya off-peak time par try karein, sirf official link use karein, aur admit card ya result last day ka intezaar na karke pehle download kar lein.
Yes. Tap the Download button on the live status card at the top of this page to save the UPSC server down image. The screenshot shows UPSC's current status, the last checked time and how many users across India are reporting problems right now. So when UPSC is actually down you get a real service down screenshot, not a mock-up. Save the service down image to keep it or send it to someone.
We run an on-demand server check from our side and combine it with real user reports across India. Reports are the main signal, because UPSC can respond to our check while it is still failing for many users. So if reports are spiking here, it is a real problem even if the site loads for us.
