About MTNL
Landline, broadband, FTTH and mobile service in Delhi and Mumbai come from Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), a Government of India company. Each city runs its own site: mtnldelhi.in for Delhi and mtnlmumbai.in for Mumbai.
Bills for landline, broadband and FTTH are paid on MTNL's Quick Pay page, and faults are booked on the short codes {helpline_number} and 1503 or through online complaint booking. MTNL Delhi's site also lists BSNL 4G SIM sales and plans for Delhi customers.

If MTNL isn't working
-
Restart the modem Switch off the broadband or FTTH modem for 30 seconds, then on, and wait two minutes.
-
Check the phone socket Plug a basic phone straight into the landline socket. A dial tone there means the fault is inside your home wiring or device.
-
Confirm the bill is paid Check the due amount on Quick Pay before booking a fault; an unpaid bill cuts the service.
-
Note your line number The complaint line asks for your landline or broadband number, so keep it ready.
-
Check the live status on this page Many MTNL reports from one city at the same time point to an exchange or cable problem. Book a complaint so your line is on the list.
Other ways to access MTNL
-
Book the fault online The online complaint booking links on mtnldelhi.in and mtnlmumbai.in take landline, broadband and FTTH faults without a call.
-
SMS your complaint in Mumbai MTNL Mumbai takes complaints by SMS on 9969108108 in its listed formats.
-
Use mobile data meanwhile A phone hotspot keeps urgent work going while the landline or broadband is repaired.
-
Call MTNL All the city-wise numbers are on the MTNL helpline page.
Questions
Check how many MTNL users in Delhi and Mumbai are reporting on this page. Several reports from one city point to an exchange or cable fault there. If only your line is dead, book a fault on 1500 so it gets a docket number.
Most MTNL faults are local: a cable cut, an exchange problem or a faulty modem on your line. An unpaid bill can also stop landline and broadband service. For mobile, the problem may be the tower in your area.
Dial 1500 for landline and broadband, or 1503 for mobile, in Delhi or Mumbai. Mumbai landline users can also dial their exchange's first four digits followed by 2198 for the IVRS. Both city sites link online complaint booking.
Use Quick Pay on billalert.mtnl.net.in, linked from both MTNL sites, for landline, broadband and FTTH. In Mumbai, you can also check the unpaid amount by sending SMS Bill followed by your landline number to 51001.
MTNL Delhi's site lists BSNL 4G SIM sales at its customer service centres in Delhi and NCR, along with the BSNL 4G plans for Delhi customers. Check the compatible handsets list there before switching.
