A widespread incident shows on the Azure status page, and only Microsoft's fix clears it. If nothing is posted there, open Service Health in the portal for events in your region. Then check whether your subscription has been disabled, as that stops its services.

Five things disable a subscription. The Free Trial credit expired, you reached a spending limit, a bill is overdue, the card limit was hit, or the Account Administrator cancelled it. Upgrade the trial, remove the spending limit, settle the balance from the portal banner, or switch to a different card.

Select the ? in the portal's top bar, describe the issue and try the suggested fixes, then choose Create a support request. You need the Owner, Contributor or Support Request Contributor role on the subscription. Billing, quota and subscription requests are free; technical requests need a support plan.

Check that your profile and card details are right and that the card's billing address matches your bank records. The free trial is only for people new to Azure. If the verification code does not arrive, wait up to four minutes, check the country code and try the Call me option; VoIP numbers are not accepted.
