Google Search is the most used search engine in the world by a very wide margin, handling the overwhelming majority of searches in India and almost everywhere else.

For most people it is the actual front door to the internet, the place a session starts before it goes anywhere else, which is why anything affecting it is noticed instantly and very widely. It has also changed shape in recent years, with AI generated summaries appearing above the familiar list of blue links.

Search volume in India runs highest through the day and evening, and spikes around news events, results days and big matches, when the whole country looks up the same thing at once.

If Google Search isn't working

Check if it is only Google Open another site or app first. If everything is slow, the issue is your connection, not Google, and fixing the connection fixes Google too.
Check your internet Toggle Wi-Fi or mobile data off and on, or restart your router. A weak or dropped connection is the most common reason Google will not load.
Try another browser or incognito Open Google in a different browser or an incognito window, or clear the cache. This rules out a browser or extension problem on your device.
Try a different network or DNS Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, since a DNS issue on one network can block Google while the rest of the internet still loads.
Check the live status above If many people across India are reporting Google right now, it is a wider problem and not just you.

Other ways to access Google Search

Use another search engine for now When Google Search is down, Bing or DuckDuckGo work independently and can handle your searches until Google is back.
Try the Google app or another device If the website is stuck, the Google app or a different device on the same account often still works, and the other way round.
Switch your network Move between Wi-Fi and mobile data. A local network or DNS fault can block Google on one connection but not the other.
Check if it is a specific Google service Gmail, Maps and Drive can go down on their own while Search works fine. If only one is affected, the others are usually still usable.

Open another well-known site or app. If only Google fails, it is a Google or DNS problem. If everything fails, it is your connection, Wi-Fi or mobile data, not Google.
