About JEE Main

Engineering aspirants reach the NITs, IIITs and JEE Advanced through the Joint Entrance Examination (Main), better known as JEE Main. The National Testing Agency (NTA) holds it in two sessions, January and April, on jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Paper 1 is for B.E. and B.Tech, Paper 2A for B.Arch and Paper 2B for B.Planning. When a candidate sits both sessions, the better of the two NTA scores counts, and the top 2,50,000 in Paper 1 become eligible for JEE Advanced. Application forms, admit cards, answer keys and score cards all open from this site.

If JEE Main isn't working

Open the right session and paper Score cards and admit cards have one link per session and paper. The wrong one rejects a correct application number.
Aadhaar OTP not coming NTA sends the Aadhaar OTP to the phone number your Aadhaar is linked to. Keep that SIM active and in network before you start.
Reset the password Use Forgot Password on the login page if your password is not accepted.
Try another browser or network A private window, or switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data, can get a stuck page to load.
Check the live status on this page If many JEE Main candidates are reporting together, NTA's server is overloaded. Wait a while before logging in again.

Other ways to access JEE Main

Look in your email NTA emails the confirmation page and the score card to the candidate's registered address and the parent's. Search the inbox for JEE (Main).
Go straight to JoSAA Once the result is out, seat allocation runs on josaa.nic.in, which does not depend on the JEE Main site.
JEE Advanced on its own site Qualified candidates register for JEE Advanced on jeeadv.ac.in, run by the organising IIT.
Call or email NTA For login, payment or score card trouble, the JEE Main helpline page has NTA's numbers, email and hours.

Our check of jeemain.nta.nic.in runs on this page, next to what other JEE aspirants are reporting. Many reports at once point to NTA's server. With a lone report, check your own connection and browser.

Result and admit card days are the usual cause. Lakhs of candidates open the same score card link together. The logins themselves run on examinationservices.nic.in, a separate NIC server, so jeemain.nta.nic.in may load while the login page does not.

Pick the right link first. There is a separate score card for each session and paper, Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) and Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Planning). Log in with your application number and password. NTA also emails the score card to your registered email and your parent's.

Pay again. The confirmation page appears only after a successful payment, so NTA asks candidates to repeat a failed one. NTA refunds any extra amount a failed transaction took, later. The contact page on jeemain.nta.nic.in lists a payment helpdesk for each bank.

No. A computer allots the exam date and shift at random, and NTA does not change an allotted centre. It gives a one-time correction window for selected fields of the application form, announced on jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Seat allocation for NITs, IIITs and other government-funded institutes runs on JoSAA at josaa.nic.in, with CSAB special rounds after it. Candidates ranked in the top 2,50,000 of Paper 1 can register for JEE Advanced on jeeadv.ac.in for the IITs.
