Equitas Bank, formally Equitas Small Finance Bank, grew out of a Chennai microfinance lender and began banking in September 2016. Its head office is at Spencer Plaza on Anna Salai, Chennai, and it lends mainly to small business owners, vehicle buyers and micro borrowers.
Customers bank through the new Equitas 2.0 mobile banking app, internet banking, UPI and Aidy, the bank's chatbot on WhatsApp. Equitas also lets customers block a card, UPI or net banking by SMS, which helps when the app itself will not open.
