About Dhanlaxmi Bank

Eleven thousand rupees of capital and seven employees: that was the whole of Dhanlaxmi Bank when it was incorporated at Thrissur in November 1927. It became a scheduled commercial bank in 1977 and dropped the longer Dhanalakshmi spelling in 2010. It is still one of the smaller private sector banks, Kerala-rooted, with branches reaching into Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and the north.

Retail deposits, gold loans, SME and NRI accounts make up most of the book. The DhanSmart app and net banking carry everyday transfers, bill payments and UPI, and a debit or credit card can be blocked online from the bank's Card Block page without logging in.
