About CSIR NET
Joint CSIR-UGC NET, known as CSIR NET, is the national test for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor eligibility and Ph.D. admission in science subjects. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) owns the test. The exam itself is run by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on csirnet.nta.nic.in.
It has five papers: Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; and Physical Sciences. The June 2026 exam ran on 17 and 18 July as a computer-based test. Scores came on 29 August 2026, and e-certificates are now on the site.

Keep payment proof before paying twice Note the bank reference and transaction time. NTA refunds a duplicate fee to the same payment mode after it reconciles payments.

Switch browser or device A login page stuck on 'duplicate login' can clear after you log out on the other device or open a fresh browser.

Read the syllabus on CSIR HRDG The syllabus and scheme of the MCQ paper are on CSIR's HRD Group site, csirhrdg.res.in, not on the NTA site.

Use the score for Ph.D. admission Universities can take Joint CSIR-UGC NET marks in place of their own Ph.D. entrance test. The marks count for one year from the result.

Our CSIR NET status card shows the latest check of csirnet.nta.nic.in. When many science aspirants report at once, NTA's server is down. With a lone report, start with your connection and browser.
Check which page fails first. Then check these:
- score cards and certificates open on a separate NTA login, linked from the home page;
- the password is case sensitive;
- each email and mobile number works for one application only.

NTA announces each cycle on csirnet.nta.nic.in with a fresh information bulletin. From December 2026, CSIR plans to merge the Life Sciences paper with DBT-BET into one Joint CSIR-UGC-DBT JRF-NET, as per its notice of 13 January 2026.
For June 2026, registration ran from 27 May to 19 June, and the exam was held on 17 and 18 July 2026 in two three-hour shifts.
Yeh science ke paanch subjects ka national test hai: Chemical, Earth Sciences, Life, Mathematical aur Physical Sciences. Isse JRF, Assistant Professor eligibility aur Ph.D. admission ka raasta khulta hai. CSIR ise NTA se karwata hai.
CSIR NET covers the five science subjects of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. UGC NET is a separate NTA exam on ugcnet.nta.nic.in for its own list of subjects. Both lead to JRF, Assistant Professor and Ph.D. eligibility.
