If YouTube isn't working

See if others are reporting it If reports climb across India at once, YouTube itself has a fault and fixes on your side will not help.
Test your speed, then lower the quality 720p needs about 2.5 Mbps and 480p about 1.1 Mbps. Pick a lower quality from the settings gear if your speed falls short.
Turn off ad blockers Browser extensions that block ads can stop playback. Open YouTube in an Incognito window with extensions off to test.
Update or reinstall the app Update YouTube to the latest version and try once. If it still fails, uninstall and reinstall it.
Restart the phone or unplug the TV Reboot the phone. For a TV or streaming stick, unplug it from power for 30 seconds.
Sign in to YouTube Some videos and features do not work while you are signed out. If Premium benefits are missing, check Settings, then Purchases and memberships.

Switch between the app and the website If the app will not load, open youtube.com in a browser, or go the other way round.
Play downloaded videos Videos you saved with Download in the mobile app keep playing without a connection. Free downloads in India need the phone online once every 48 hours; Premium downloads last only while the membership is active.
Watch on another screen A smart TV, a laptop or casting from the phone can still play videos when one device fails.

If reports here are high, the fault is at YouTube's end and it needs time. If not, YouTube's own error guide lists four things to check: your connection speed for the chosen quality, an ad blocker or other browser extension, an old app version, and whether you are signed in, since some videos need it.

Check your internet speed first. YouTube recommends a steady 2.5 Mbps for 720p, 5 Mbps for 1080p and 1.1 Mbps for 480p, and other devices on the same Wi-Fi share that speed. Drop the quality from the settings gear, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or restart the router and test again.

Refresh the page. If the message comes back, YouTube suggests signing in, updating the app or browser, and turning off ad blockers. Then clear the browser's cache and cookies, check that no app has changed your DNS settings, and restart the device. 'Error loading the page' is different: YouTube is serving a basic watch page during a rare interruption, so the video plays while likes and comments stay hidden for a while.
