It is the bank's in-app authentication, which replaces the SMS one time password for online and mobile banking logins. You register it in SC Mobile with an OTP sent to your mobile number. If you forget the key PIN, regenerate it under Settings, then Manage SC Mobile Key.
It comes back without you asking. RBI's T+1 rule gives the bank one working day to return the money from a UPI or IMPS payment that failed. Keep the reference number, and do not send the same amount again before the statement shows the reversal.
