About Central Bank of India

Despite the name, Central Bank of India is not the country's central bank, that role belongs to the RBI.

It is one of India's oldest commercial banks, set up in 1911, and is owned today by the Government of India with its head office in Mumbai. Branches run in nearly every state, and customers handle regular transactions through net banking, the Cent mobile app, UPI and cards.

A large number of pension, salary and basic savings accounts sit here, so credit days at the start of a month and the month end stretch are the heaviest.
