Kapurthala is home to the head office of Punjab Gramin Bank (PGB), the regional rural bank of Punjab, sponsored by Punjab National Bank. The present bank dates from 1 January 2019, when Malwa Gramin Bank and Sutlej Gramin Bank were merged with the old Punjab Gramin Bank.
With about 485 branches and seven regional offices, it serves more than 40 lakh customers, who also bank on the PGB mBanking app, internet banking, UPI and WhatsApp banking.
