About NIC

Run by the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) builds and hosts much of the Government of India's IT, from the websites of ministries and states to many .nic.in portals. Its own site moved to nic.gov.in.

Government staff also rely on NIC services such as NIC Mail (email.gov.in and mail.gov.in), the Parichay single sign-on, and the NIC VPN. Problems with any of them are logged with the NIC Service Desk.

Try the other NIC Mail address If email.gov.in will not load, open mail.gov.in, or the other way round.
Clear cache and cookies Old login cookies can block Parichay and NIC Mail sign-in.
Try another network Switch between office Wi-Fi and mobile data to rule out a local network block.
Note the exact portal Write down the full address that failed before raising a ticket.
Are several NIC services failing together? Many NIC reports at once point to a wider outage. Wait and retry.

This page tracks nic.gov.in and collects reports about NIC services. When many users report NIC Mail, Parichay or several .nic.in portals failing together, look at NIC's systems. When one portal fails alone, check with the department that runs it.

NIC hosts a large share of government portals. A fault in one data centre or in a shared login such as Parichay can therefore hit many sites at once. A single portal can also slow down on its own deadline day while the rest keep working.
