About GATE

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is held jointly by IISc and the IITs for the National Coordination Board, Ministry of Education. GATE scores are used for M.Tech and PhD admissions, often with financial assistance, and several PSUs use them for recruitment. A score stays valid for three years.

IIT Madras is organising GATE 2027 on gate2027.iitm.ac.in, with 30 test papers, including the new Robotics and Automation (RA) paper. Applications go through GOAPS, the GATE Online Application Processing System, and Indian nationals must register through a verified DigiLocker account.
