Thrissur in Kerala has been home to this bank since 1920, when it opened as Catholic Syrian Bank. The shorter CSB Bank name came later, after Canadian insurer Fairfax was permitted by the RBI to take a controlling stake. Around 785 branches now, with Kerala still the heartland.
