Answer: No CEAC issues reported in the last 24 hours, and it responded normally at our last check on 24 Oct 2026, 4:09 AM IST.
Our automated check runs from one or more locations and may miss in-app problems; reports come from users across India. We only call something "down" when users confirm it too. Here's how we check.

About CEAC
CEAC, the Consular Electronic Application Center at ceac.state.gov, is the US Department of State site where Indian applicants fill the DS-160 form for US visitor, student and work visas, and check their visa status. It is run by the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
Applicants in India choose New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad or Kolkata as the post on the DS-160. The same site handles immigrant visa forms and some immigrant visa fees.

CEAC sits behind a security check that verifies you are not a bot, and it can hang on slow connections. Wait for it to finish, then reload.
CEAC supports Chrome, Edge and Firefox only. If many applicants report trouble together, the site is facing a technical issue, so save your Application ID and try later.
The DS-160 times out after 20 minutes of inactivity, and unsaved answers are lost. Save each page as you go, and note the Application ID shown at the top right so you can return to the form.
On the DS-160 start page, choose Retrieve an Application. Enter your Application ID and answer the security question you set when you started.
- Open the CEAC Visa Status Check page.
- Choose Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) or Immigrant Visa (IV).
- Enter your case number, passport number and the first 5 letters of your surname.
