Its Chakshu service takes reports of suspected fraud calls, SMS and WhatsApp messages and spam. The portal was built by C-DOT. When Sanchar Saathi is down, OTPs, TAFCOP checks and lost-phone requests stall.

If Sanchar Saathi isn't working

Wait 24 hours on a new SIM A duplicate SIM cannot receive SMS for the first 24 hours, so OTPs will not arrive until then.
Use the number on your ID TAFCOP lists connections against the identity behind the number you log in with.
Keep your Request ID The ID from a block request is needed to check status and to unblock later.
Switch to the app If the website stalls, the Sanchar Saathi app on Android or iPhone offers the same services.

We test sancharsaathi.gov.in on a schedule; our status card shows the result next to reports from mobile users. When TAFCOP, CEIR and Chakshu users all report together, the fault is with Sanchar Saathi, not your handset.

If only the OTP fails, check the number: on a re-issued SIM, SMS starts only 24 hours after activation, as per TRAI's rule.

Chakshu is the place to flag a suspicious call, SMS or WhatsApp message, such as fake KYC requests, police or DoT impersonation, and spam. It is not for money you have already lost: for that, call the cyber crime helpline 1930 or use cybercrime.gov.in.

Dial *#06# to see the IMEI. Then enter it under Know Genuineness of Your Mobile Handset on Sanchar Saathi, or send KYM followed by the 15-digit IMEI by SMS to 14422. The reply shows the brand, model and maker.
