About Razorpay

Razorpay is a Bengaluru payments company that businesses use to collect money online, founded in 2014 by Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar. Its gateway accepts cards, net banking, UPI, wallets and EMI, and around it sit RazorpayX for business banking, payroll and a point of sale arm.

Millions of merchants use it, from small online sellers to well known internet companies, which is why its name shows up on checkout pages all over the Indian web. In 2025 the company shifted its parent from the United States back to India.

Its load tracks the online shopping day, evenings and weekends mainly, with sharp peaks during sale events and on the last days of a month when subscriptions and invoices are collected.

If Razorpay isn't working

Payment failed but money debited? If it was not captured, the amount is auto refunded, usually within 5 to 7 working days. Keep the payment ID and check with the merchant whether the order went through before paying again.
Checkout failing on one method? Try another method, like UPI, a different card or net banking. Razorpay disables methods that are bound to fail during a bank downtime, so pick one with a better success rate.
Is it the bank, not Razorpay? A downtime is often at the partner or issuing bank. Waiting a short while or switching the method usually works.
Merchant: checkout or API errors? Check the Razorpay status page. Settlements resume after recovery, so avoid re-triggering failed transactions.
Dashboard not loading? Clear the cache and try another browser. If many users report it above, it is a Razorpay side issue.

Other ways to access Razorpay

Try a different payment method If one instrument fails at a Razorpay checkout, UPI, another card or net banking often goes through.
