About PFMS

Most government money that reaches a bank account in India passes through PFMS, the Public Financial Management System of the Controller General of Accounts, Ministry of Finance. It carries Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payments for schemes such as NSP scholarships, PM Kisan, MGNREGA and PAHAL.

Citizens use two public tools on the PFMS website. Know Your Payment shows payments to any bank account, and the DBT Status Tracker shows a beneficiary's status by scheme for the last two years. Agencies and government offices log in separately to make and track payments.
