If PayU isn't working

Save the bank reference first Note the date, amount and the bank reference from your statement or SMS. Paying again before the first debit comes back can leave you charged twice.
Merchants: check your dashboard Check the transaction in your PayU dashboard, then raise a ticket on help.payu.in with the merchant ID.
Switch to UPI or another card If one card or bank keeps failing at a PayU checkout, pay with UPI or a different card. One bank's decline does not mean PayU is down.
Keep your OTP to yourself Enter an OTP only on your own bank's payment page, never on a call. Nobody who calls about a refund should get your OTP, card PIN or remote access to your phone.
Check the live status on this page Reports rising from buyers across India point to PayU itself. With only a few scattered reports, try another payment method or check with the shop.

Other ways to access PayU

Pay with another method or gateway Choose a different payment mode on the same checkout, such as UPI instead of a card. Some shops also offer cash on delivery or a second payment option.
Merchants: send a payment link When checkout on your own site will not load, send the customer a PayU payment link or invoice by SMS, WhatsApp or email. The order then does not have to wait for your website.
Pay the college or biller directly For a fee or bill due today, check whether the institution also takes payment at its office or through its own app, and use that route.
Helpline for escalation For a refund or settlement still stuck, the verified PayU helpline lists the help centre, care email and the escalation address.

Check how many people are reporting it on this page. PayU runs checkout for lakhs of businesses, so a real outage brings reports from buyers on many different sites together. If only one payment on one shop failed, try UPI or another card before you call it an outage.

Shoppers only meet PayU inside someone else's checkout, so a PayU failure looks like the shop is broken. A decline from one bank or card network is not a gateway outage. Try UPI or a different card; if every method fails on every site, it is PayU.

Do not pay a second time yet. Raise it with PayU on help.payu.in or at [email protected], with the date, amount and bank reference. PayU resolves a failed transaction itself, and a shop you contact first has to pass it to PayU's dispute system. You get a ticket number to track it.
