Answer: No Madras High Court issues reported in the last 24 hours, and it responded normally at our last check on 24 Oct 2026, 4:09 AM IST.
Our automated check runs from one or more locations and may miss in-app problems; reports come from users across India. We only call something "down" when users confirm it too. Here's how we check.

If Madras High Court isn't working
-
See the live check first If Madras High Court reports climb from many users at once, the site is down. Wait some time and try.
-
Pick the right bench The Principal Seat and the Madurai Bench each have their own case status, cause list and display board pages. A case filed at Madurai will not show under Chennai.
-
Search by CNR number If the case number search returns nothing, try the CNR number or the filing number instead.
-
Save recruitment forms often Each step of the recruitment form expires in 30 minutes. Save before moving to the next step.
-
Log out properly Closing the recruitment portal without Logout locks the account. Use the release link from the email to get back in.
Other ways to access Madras High Court

Questions
We check hcmadras.tn.gov.in and count reports from advocates and litigants. If several arrive at once, the Madras High Court website is down. Judgments and the cause list portal are on mhc.tn.gov.in, so they can behave differently.
MHC's services are split across sites. The main site has case status, the display board and VC links. The judgments and cause list portal is at mhc.tn.gov.in/judis, recruitment at mhc.tn.gov.in/recruitment, and e-Filing on filing.ecourts.gov.in.
A slow main site does not mean the judgments portal is down too, so open the one you need directly.
Open Status of Case on hcmadras.tn.gov.in and pick Principal Seat or Madurai Bench. You can search by case number, filing number, CNR number or party name. Party name search also asks for a date range.
On the Cause List Portal at mhc.tn.gov.in/judis/clists, with separate lists for the Principal Seat and the Madurai Bench. Advocates can also register on the AIMS portal to get the cause list by email, which the court is testing as a pilot.
Open Display Board on the main site and choose Principal Bench or Madurai Bench. It shows each bench's court number, the item being heard and the case number, through the day.
Go to VC Facility on hcmadras.tn.gov.in. The Principal Seat and Madurai Bench pages list each bench's VC link for the day. Hearings run on Microsoft Teams, and the court's downloads include a self-help guide for joining from a phone or laptop.
The Copying Branch (CD Section) prepares and issues certified copies, and you can apply online through the court's e-Copy Application. Uncertified copies of judgments and orders are on the Judgments portal.
The portal now logs you in with your user ID and an OTP sent to your registered mobile, instead of a password. If it says the login is already in use, open the link in the email the portal sent you and release the account.
Each of the 5 steps of the form times out after 30 minutes, so save often.
Yes. Use e-Filing at filing.ecourts.gov.in, linked from the court's online services. The Filing Status page on hcmadras.tn.gov.in then shows where your filing stands at the Principal Seat.
The Registrar General's office is on 044-25301349, Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 5.45 PM. The Madurai Bench line and the email IDs are on our Madras High Court helpline page.
