About LIC

Life Insurance Corporation of India is the country's largest insurer by a wide margin, owned by the Government of India and listed since 2022. Crores of households hold at least one LIC policy, often bought decades ago through an agent.

Policyholders use its portal and app to pay premiums, check policy status, download statements, update details and follow maturity or claim payments. Agents use their own portal for servicing.

Because so many policies renew on similar cycles, its online services are busiest near premium due dates and around the financial year end, when people pay together and also download receipts for tax proof.

If LIC isn't working

For a failed premium, do not pay twice A failed payment is reversed. Keep the reference and check your policy status before paying again.
Try off-peak near a due date The portal is busiest near due dates and year end. Trying early morning or late night is usually smoother.
Keep your policy number ready Most services are policy-linked, so keep your policy number and registered mobile handy for login and OTP.
