About Karnataka Bhoomi

Karnataka's Bhoomi project was one of India's earliest land record computerisations, and it is still the reference point for how a state digitises its revenue records.

Its central document is the RTC, also called the Pahani, the Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops. Unlike a plain ownership record it carries the crop grown on that land, which is why it gets refreshed each season and why farmers need it for loans, insurance and procurement.
