About Freo

Freo started life as MoneyTap, a credit line app, and kept that product while building outward from it. The company behind both is MWYN Tech Private Limited, out of Bengaluru.

The app now bundles a savings account, UPI, fixed and recurring deposits, digital gold, insurance and the original line of credit. Its savings side runs in partnership with Equitas Small Finance Bank, the standard Indian arrangement where the fintech owns the interface and a licensed bank holds the deposit.

The MoneyTap name has not fully faded and both are still in use, which occasionally confuses people looking for support. Repayment dates and salary week are when the app sees its heaviest traffic.

If Freo isn't working

Start with the live status above Widespread reports mean it is not your device. Restarting or reinstalling will not help and you may lose your session for nothing.
UPI failed but money went out Raise it in the app under Help and Support, choosing UPI, which routes the ticket to your bank or NPCI. Most reversals land the same day.
OTP not arriving Use the registered number, check your message filters and wait a minute before asking again. Rapid retries can lock you out temporarily.
Repayment date coming up If the app is struggling on a due date, pay the EMI through the lender's own channel and keep the confirmation, so a genuine outage does not become a late payment on your record.
Old MoneyTap account If you are logging in with MoneyTap credentials, use the current Freo app rather than an old build, since outdated versions fail at the login step.

Other ways to access Freo

Use any other UPI app Your bank account works through any UPI app, so a payment can go out from a different one while Freo is unavailable.
Go to the partner bank directly For the savings account, Equitas Small Finance Bank has its own net banking and branch network that runs independently of the app.
Pay an EMI through the lender If a repayment is due, the lending partner will accept it through its own portal, which protects you from a late mark during an outage.
Escalate using verified contacts The verified Freo contact details include the nodal officer line and hours, useful when a ticket has gone unanswered.

Freo bundles several things that can each break separately, a savings account with Equitas Small Finance Bank, UPI running over NPCI, a credit line and insurance. A UPI failure is often NPCI or the remitter bank, while a login or limit problem is more likely Freo's own systems.

Same company. MWYN Tech runs both and the credit line product started life as MoneyTap. Support is shared, which is why you may see either name on messages. Quote your registered mobile number and it will be traced either way.

Raise it in the app under Help and Support and pick UPI, which opens a ticket that goes to your bank or NPCI. A debited amount on a failed UPI transfer normally returns by itself, often the same day.

Try from the registered mobile number with a working signal, check that messages from unknown senders are not being filtered, and give it a minute before requesting another. Repeated requests in quick succession can lock the attempt for a while.
