About Freo

Freo began as MoneyTap, a credit line app, and both names still appear on its pages and in its email addresses. The company behind them is MWYN Tech Private Limited of Bengaluru, and the credit comes through RBI-regulated lending partners.

The Freo app now covers a personal credit line of up to Rs 5 lakh, UPI payments, credit on UPI through RuPay, digital gold and insurance. Freo says more than 3 crore people have signed up.

If Freo isn't working

UPI failed but money went out Open Help and Support in the app, choose UPI and raise a ticket with the UPI reference. You can also raise the dispute with NPCI on its UPI dispute page.
OTP not arriving Use your registered number, check your message filters and give it a minute before asking for another OTP.
Repayment date coming up Your EMI date cannot be changed or postponed. If the app is down on the due date, pay the partner bank directly and keep the receipt.
Old MoneyTap account The MoneyTap credit line now sits inside the Freo app, and moneytap.com opens Freo's credit page. For an old account, write to [email protected] with your registered mobile number.

Other ways to access Freo

Use any other UPI app Your bank account is not tied to Freo. Send the payment from any other UPI app or your bank's own app while Freo is down.
Set up auto-debit with the lender Freo repayments go to the partner bank that approved your credit line. Its website lets you set up auto-debit, so the EMI goes through even when the Freo app is down.
Pay an EMI through the lender If an EMI is due today, pay it straight to the partner bank that approved your credit line. Freo's FAQ says it is paid like any credit card bill.
Freo helpline and emails For a ticket that has gone unanswered, the verified Freo contact details list the support emails and the escalation route.

Look at the Freo reports on this page. When Freo users in many states report at once, the fault is at Freo's end. If the reports are few, look at your phone, bank and network before trying again.

Note which part fails before you retry. The Freo app does several jobs: UPI payments, the credit line, credit on UPI and login. A failed UPI payment involves your bank and UPI as well as Freo, while a credit limit or login problem sits with Freo.

Yes, same company. MWYN Tech Private Limited runs both, and the credit line began as MoneyTap. That is why messages and emails may carry either name. Quote your registered mobile number whichever name you use.
