About ESIC

ESIC provides medical care and cash benefits to insured workers earning below a wage threshold, funded by contributions from employers and employees under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Its portal is used by two very different groups. Employers register establishments and file monthly contributions, while workers use it for the Pehchan card, to claim sickness, maternity or disability benefit, and to locate an ESI hospital or dispensary. Its heaviest days are around monthly contribution due dates, when employers file together.

Wait and retry, especially near deadlines Close to due dates ESIC is overloaded. Wait a few minutes and retry rather than refreshing constantly.
Check your login and OTP Make sure your registered mobile and email are correct, wait for the OTP for a minute, and do not request many at once.
Try another browser and clear cache Government portals can be browser-sensitive. Try another browser or an incognito window, and clear the cache if a page is stuck.
File before the last day Where you can, use ESIC a day or two before the deadline, when it is far less loaded.

Other ways to access ESIC

Try in off-peak hours ESIC is much faster late at night or early morning, away from deadline-day load.
Use the app if there is one If ESIC has an official app, it can work when the website is busy, and the other way round.

Close to due dates, employers and insured workers use ESIC together, so the portal slows down or errors out for a while. It is the load, and it usually eases outside peak hours.

Around contribution due dates the portal is under load and some pages lag. Keep your insurance number ready, wait a little, and try again. If many people are reporting ESIC here, it is a wider issue.

A missing OTP is usually a load or network issue. Wait a minute before requesting another, check your registered mobile and email, and switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
