About eNPS Portal

eNPS is the online route into the National Pension System, also known as the NPS Portal, regulated by PFRDA with Protean as a central recordkeeping agency. An account can be opened here, which generates a PRAN, and contributions made to it directly.

Government employees, corporate subscribers and individuals all use it to contribute, switch fund managers or asset allocation, and check statements. The additional tax deduction available on NPS is what brings many people to it in the first place. Contributions crowd the site in March, right before the financial year closes and the deduction window shuts.

If eNPS Portal isn't working

Wait and retry near the deadline Close to 31 March eNPS is overloaded. Wait a few minutes and retry rather than refreshing constantly.
For a failed contribution, keep the reference A failed contribution is normally auto reversed. Keep the reference and check your statement before contributing again, so you do not pay twice.
Keep your PRAN ready Have your PRAN and password ready before you log in, and wait for the OTP for a minute rather than requesting many.
Use the current official site Protean CRA moved eNPS to enps.nps-proteantech.in from the old NSDL address, so make sure you are on the current official portal.
Check the live status above If many people are reporting eNPS right now, it is a wider problem and not just you.

Other ways to access eNPS Portal

Contribute through your bank or PoP You can contribute to NPS through your Point of Presence (PoP), such as your bank, when eNPS is down.
Use the NPS mobile app The official NPS app can show your account and take contributions when the website is busy, and the other way round.
Try in off-peak hours eNPS is much faster late at night or early morning, away from the deadline-day load.
Helpline for a stuck contribution For an unresolved contribution or login issue, the verified NPS CRA helpline (1800 222 080) can help.
