About DigiLocker
Run by the National e-Governance Division under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, DigiLocker is the government's document wallet: driving licence, vehicle RC, PAN, Aadhaar, board marksheets and more, fetched from the department that issued them.
What sits in the Issued Documents section counts the same as the physical original, and a verifier can check it by scanning the QR code or the signature on the PDF. Signing in takes a mobile number or Aadhaar, an OTP and a security PIN.
DigiLocker puts its own scale at 70 crore registered users and 900 crore issued documents. It is also the National Academic Depository, so boards like CBSE, CISCE and NIOS issue marksheets and migration certificates straight into student accounts.

OTP not arriving? Wait two minutes and request it again. The code expires in 10 minutes, so use the newest one and not an older message.

Stuck on 'UID service temporarily unavailable' That message is about DigiLocker's servers or UIDAI, not your phone. Try again after some time.

Forgotten your security PIN? On the sign-in page choose Forget Security PIN, give your Aadhaar number and date of birth, then use the Aadhaar OTP option and set a new PIN. Do note the PIN is not the OTP: you need both to sign in.

Document missing from Issued Documents? Fetch it again from Browse and pick the issuing department. The record comes live from that department, so the details you type must match the ones it holds.

A PDF you already saved still works A document downloaded earlier keeps the issuer's digital signature and QR code, so a verifier can check it even while DigiLocker is down.

Go to the issuing department instead Licence and RC details sit on parivahan.gov.in and vahan.parivahan.gov.in, and a board result stays on the board's own site. Both work when the locker does not.

Read the live check and the reports on this page first. Reports from many states in the same stretch point at DigiLocker itself. If the reports are quiet, your own sign-in is likely stuck, and that is worth separating: the site can be up while the OTP, the Aadhaar check or a single department's records are not.
Three different things can break. Sign-in needs an OTP to reach your phone. Aadhaar linking depends on UIDAI, and DigiLocker's own FAQ says an error there is usually temporary, on its servers or at UIDAI. Fetching a document depends on the department that issued it, so a licence or a marksheet can fail while the rest of your locker opens normally.
Wait a couple of minutes and ask for it again. DigiLocker says the OTP goes out instantly, that a delay is usually its own servers or your operator's SMS delivery, and that the code lapses after 10 minutes. Enter it after that and it will be refused, so start again rather than retyping the old one.
Give it some time and retry. On the message UID service temporarily unavailable, DigiLocker's FAQ says the trouble is technical, on its side or at UIDAI, and that it is most likely temporary. Nothing you change on your phone will clear that one, so leave a gap before the next attempt.
Usually not. DigiLocker pulls both from the National Register, the transport ministry's central database, so a record missing there cannot be fetched here. Your Aadhaar name must also match the name in that record. Check the licence on parivahan.gov.in and the RC on vahan.parivahan.gov.in before treating it as an outage.
Do minute rukein, phir OTP dobara mangein - DigiLocker kehta hai ki OTP turant jata hai aur 10 minute me expire ho jata hai. Site na khule to app try karein, ya thodi der baad. Aadhaar wali dikkat me UIDAI ki service bhi wajah ho sakti hai, jo apne aap theek hoti hai.
Signing up does not. DigiLocker says a foreign mobile number cannot be used to register and that an Indian number is needed. An account you already hold still opens abroad, but the OTP goes to that Indian number or to the one linked with your Aadhaar, so keep it reachable while you travel.
Sign in with the mobile number you gave CBSE, enter the OTP, and use the last six digits of your roll number as the security PIN. The marksheet then sits in Issued Documents, and CBSE issues passing and migration certificates the same way.
If DigiLocker will not open on result day, wait a while and try again instead of reloading again and again. The board's own result site carries the result too.
