If Claude isn't working

Start a new chat or refresh Reload the page or app and start a fresh chat. If a reply stops midway, resend it, and signing out and back in clears many temporary glitches.
Check if you have hit a usage limit Claude's plans have message limits that reset after a while. If you see a limit message, wait for the reset or upgrade, rather than retrying repeatedly.
Check your connection Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data and turn off any VPN or proxy, then try again.
Check Anthropic's status page Anthropic publishes an official status page for confirmed incidents. Check it alongside the live reports here.

Other ways to access Claude

Use another AI tool for now ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Copilot can usually do the same task while Claude is down.
Try the app instead of the web, or the reverse If the Claude website is failing, the app often works, and vice versa.

Wait for a usage limit to reset If the issue is a message limit rather than an outage, it clears once the limit resets after some time.

Usually high demand or a fault on Anthropic's side, which can make replies fail or error out. It normally clears on its own. Starting a new chat and refreshing often helps in the meantime.

Each plan has message limits that reset after a while. If you hit one, the limit resets after some time, or you can upgrade for more. This is a plan limit, not an outage or a problem with your device.
