Answer: No Bharatkosh issues reported in the last 24 hours, and it responded normally at our last check on 24 Oct 2026, 4:09 AM IST.

Our automated check runs from one or more locations and may miss in-app problems; reports come from users across India. We only call something "down" when users confirm it too. Here's how we check.

About Bharatkosh

Fees, fines and other payments to central ministries go through Bharatkosh, the Non-Tax Receipt Portal (NTRP) of the Controller General of Accounts, Ministry of Finance. You can pay by card, UPI, net banking or a NEFT/RTGS challan, with or without logging in.

Bharatkosh runs on the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) and also takes Swachh Bharat Kosh donations. When it is down, payments, Track Your Payment and receipt downloads can all fail.

If Bharatkosh isn't working

  • Clear cookies or switch browser Bharatkosh's own fix for payment errors is a different browser with cookies deleted.

  • Change the payment gateway If one gateway fails, go back and choose another on the payment page.

  • Check status before paying again A debited payment marked FAIL OR REFUND IF SETTLED comes back to your account. Paying twice only creates a second debit.

  • Corporate net banking Not every gateway supports corporate net banking for every bank. Switch gateway to find one that does.

Other ways to access Bharatkosh

  • Pay by NEFT/RTGS challan Generate a GAR-7 challan on Bharatkosh and pay through your bank, then add the UTR number.

  • Use Quick Payment If login fails, Quick Payment for non-registered users covers many purposes without signing in.

  • Ask the department For refunds, wrong purpose or service delivery, the DDO of the department you paid can act.

  • Reach the helpdesk The NTRP phone and email are on our Bharatkosh helpline page.

Questions

We check bharatkosh.gov.in on a schedule and show the result, with payers' problem reports, in the status card. A spike in reports means the portal itself has trouble.

If many users report together, the Bharatkosh site or a payment gateway is facing a technical issue. Wait and try again later.

If it is just you, Bharatkosh suggests changing the browser and deleting cookies. When the payment page fails, go back and pick a different payment gateway.

Do not pay again. Open Track Your Payment, verify with the OTP, and click Know your current status against the transaction.

  • Status FAIL OR REFUND IF SETTLED: the money comes back to your account within 7-10 working days.
  • Any other status: contact the Bharatkosh helpdesk.

Use Track Your Payment / payment history on the home page. Enter your details and the OTP sent to your email or mobile, then open the transaction to print the receipt. Registered users can also log in and see their payment history.

  1. Choose NEFT/RTGS and generate the challan (GAR-7) and mandate form on Bharatkosh.
  2. Pay from the same bank account you entered in the form.
  3. Enter the bank's UTR number under Track Your Payment.
Update the UTR within 15 days, or the transaction may be archived.

Write to the DDO of the ministry or department you paid, with the receipt or challan. Bharatkosh only collects the money; the department decides the refund under government financial rules.

For a wrong purpose or a card used without your consent, write within 15 days. No refund is given once the service is delivered or if you simply change your mind.

NTRP is the Non-Tax Receipt Portal, better known as Bharatkosh. It is one window, set up by the Controller General of Accounts, to deposit fees, fines and other non-tax money into the Government of India's account.

Quick Payment lets you pay without registering: pick the ministry, purpose and amount, and pay. Some purposes need a login; Department of Telecommunications payments, for example, appear only after you create a login for them.

Yes, tap download on the status card at the top to save a server down image showing Bharatkosh's current status, the last checked time, and how many users are reporting problems.
