About UPCOP
UPCOP is the citizen services app of Uttar Pradesh Police. Through it you can register a complaint, file an e-FIR, download an FIR, and apply for a character certificate or a tenant, domestic help or employee verification.
The same services open on the CCTNS citizen portal, cctnsup.gov.in, linked from uppolice.gov.in. The portal runs on the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) software of the National Crime Records Bureau. If it is down, the app and the website both stop together.
If UPCOP isn't working

Update the app UP Police asks users to download the updated UPCOP app. Install the newest version from your phone's app store.

Watch the UPCOP status here If many users report together, the CCTNS server has a problem on UP Police's side. Try again later.

Keep your application number Status checks and certificate verification both need the complaint or service request number.

Try the website instead When the app does not load, open the CCTNS citizen portal through the Citizen Services menu of uppolice.gov.in. It offers the same services.
Other ways to access UPCOP

Go to your police station The thana takes complaints and FIRs in person, including the cases e-FIR does not cover.

Questions
Check the status card here. It tests the CCTNS citizen portal behind UPCOP and lists reports from users across Uttar Pradesh. If people in Lucknow, Kanpur and other districts report at once, the problem is at UP Police's end.
The UPCOP app and the CCTNS citizen portal give the same services. If logins, OTPs or certificate downloads fail on both for many users at once, the fault is on UP Police's side.
If only your app is failing, update UPCOP from the Google Play Store or App Store. UP Police asks users to install the updated app.
- Create a user ID and log in.
- Choose Character Certificate and fill in the form.
- Upload a recent photo, an ID proof and an address proof.
- Pay the Rs 50 fee online. An application without the fee is treated as incomplete.
Log in and use Search Status with your application number. You also get SMS and email updates when the police station, LIU and DCRB finish their checks, and when the final decision is made. The SSP or SP of your district then issues the certificate online with a digital signature.
- Character certificate, tenant, domestic help or employee verification: 15 days
- Complaint: 7 days
- Postmortem report: 5 days
- Event or performance: 6 days
- Protest or procession: 3 days
Use e-FIR, which is open only for some cases, such as those where the accused is unknown. Upload a clear, signed application with the date, time, place, police station and district of the incident.
Giving false information is an offence. For any other case, register a complaint in UPCOP or go to the police station.
File a Lost Article Report in the UPCOP app and keep the copy. Then use it to block the phone on Sanchar Saathi, the Department of Telecommunications portal, which asks for a police report.
Pehle dekhein ki registered mobile number sahi hai aur network theek hai. Phir kuch der baad dobara try karein. Agar bahut log ek saath yahi report kar rahe hain, to dikkat UPCOP ke server mein hai.
